National Dairy Month

June is National Dairy Month, which gives us the opportunity to appreciate the nutritional value that dairy foods offer to our kids’ diets. We all think of milk strengthening bones, but there are also many other benefits to including milk, yogurt, and cheese in a healthy diet.

  • Build strong bones and teeth
  • Maintain healthy metabolism
  • Support a sturdy immune system
  • Create efficient nerve and muscle impulses
  • Regulate many body processes
  • And so much more!

To celebrate, try out this sweet, yet nutritious, snack that is packed with protein and perfect for the summer - Strawberry Chocolate Greek Yogurt Bark.

School’s Out Snacks

Now that your kids are out of school and will likely spend more time at home, it’s important to have some handy and healthy snacks available. The easier it is to grab, the more likely your child is to choose it. So, let’s look at some replacements for our chips and fruit snacks that typically line our pantries. See many ideas here!

All Activity Counts!

Playing is about as natural for kids as eating, so keeping kids active is easier when there is time, toys, and other kids around to play with. Unfortunately, as kids get older this gets harder due to school, extracurricular activities, and the overall craziness that life can be some times. Good thing is that, whether or not they are into sports, there are plenty of ways to stay active and reap the benefits of better sleep, stronger bones, healthier weight, and better mindset. Find ways to get your kids excited to move by visiting: https://kidshealth.org/en/parents/active-kids.html

Get Your Garden Going This Summer

Don’t throw out your next egg carton (cardboard, though, please!) so that your child can use it to watch seeds turn into seedlings. Get them interested in gardening now and find out how to create such a great summer activity here. Not only will you teach them about responsibility and science, but eventually you may even gather your own produce to use in your home too!
